About Christine DeVito…
Christine received her formative Ballet and Theatre training at The School of Performing Arts in New Milford Connecticut. At SOPA Christine studied with Arlene Begelman(formerly with Ballet Society/ NYC Ballet), and Barbara Braverman (formerly with Cleveland Ballet) While studying at SOPA she performed with their professional theater company (Conn. Stage) in productions of: Roar of The Greasepaint Smell of The Crowd, Grease (Jan) and Carnival. Christine also danced in Candlewood Playhouse's production of Oklahoma choreographed by Gemsy Delap.
Ms. DeVito attended the Boston Conservatory of Music, Dance and Theater earning her BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Directing. While earning her BFA, she was Assistant choreographer on many main-stage productions. Christine also choreographed musical reviews, faculty-directed projects and served as the musical staging coordinator for a 10 person-singing group (of which she wasalso a member). Her stage credits at BCM include productions of Chicago, Street Scene, Iolanthe, Kismet, Sweet Charity and a leading role in the original Musical Smashing Times by Gerard Alessandrini.
During her four years at BCM Christine studied with such dance and theater faculty as Clyde Nantais, Peter Dimuro, Fran Charnas and Neil Donohoe.
Christine has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan in productions of: West Side Story (Anita), Sweet Charity (Nickie) Forty Second Street (Lorraine), The King and I (Dance soloist), Singing In the Rain(Featured Dancer), Cactus Flower (Toni Simmons), The Music Man (Zaneeta Shinn) and A Chorus Line (Diana Morales).
On Broadway she was a featured dancer in Jerome Robbin's Broadway and Cats. Playing the role of Ermengarde, she worked with Carol Channing in the Broadway and National companies of Hello Dolly, directed by Lee Roy Reams. Christine also performed in the Madison Square Garden production of The Wizard of Oz, starring Mickey Rooney and Eartha Kitt, as well as the National Tour of Disney's Beauty and The Beast. Christine has been teaching Dance and Theatre throughout Bergen County since 2000, and a member of Actors Equity since 1990. Trained by Power Pilates in New York City, Christine is certified to teach Pilates Mat classes.
